B33 Horsehead Nebula

B33 Horsehead Nebula

Curdridge Observatory, Southampton,UK
Object name: B33 Horsehead Nebula
Apparent RA: 5 41 10  Apparent Dec:-2 27 44
Constellation: Orion
There was a fair bit of moon around on this night clear night in Jan 2013. Good conditions for a few frames on the horse head dark nebula, B33 in the IC 434 region.

I'm surprised how well this came out considering the short exposure time - only 4 x 1200s. The star shapes are also quite poor, although I think this was more a collimation issue than a guiding issue.

One day I am going to get a good 4 hours under moonless skies on this target, but not this year!
