I've never quite understood the object designations in the Pelican nebula. The whole region is known as IC5070 and IC5067, but i think this particular bit is most properly called IC5067. What an epically bright region! Along with Orion and M16 this must be one of the brightest HII region in the sky. This is a close up of the "stalk" part of the Pelican Nebula region, featuring numerous Herbig Haro objects, and a mixture of large and small scale features. It is taken on my 8 inch Newtonian with a 6nm Hydrogen Alpha filter. I've taken 11x1200s frames of the region - more than enough to make quite a nice smooth result. The moust famous Herbig Haro object in the region is HH 555 at the tip of the stalk. Jets of material blast out of the newly forming star hidden in the dust clouds of the diminishing Pelican Nebula.
