M16 Eagle nebula

30 Aug 2010
Object name: M16 Eagle nebula
Apparent RA: 18 18 48.0  Apparent Dec: -13 47 50
Constellation: Serpens

Taken with a 135mm focal length SLR lens and 6nm Astrodon hydrogen Alpha filter over two nights. 9x900s frames were taken on two nights to give a total of 4.5 hours. This is a hard to reach object low in the south. This 3.5 degree field shows a lot of hydrogen alpha action - I particuarly like the sh2-53 region in the upper right.
