Bit of a departure for me: A colour image! Recent purchased a Baader OIII narrowband ccd filter. Unable to afford Astrodon prices, I decided to try out the Baader OIII option.
This is the first light for the Baader OIII filter. Bright moon and also rather hazy so I decided on a bright target. This is supposed to be just an experiment, but has turned out nice. :-)
I combined 14x600s frames with the OIII filter in the blue channel and 15x600s with the Astrodon Ha filter in the red channel. Noel Carboni's action created a green channel for me.
Although this isn't a particularly accurate chromatic representation of the Veil Nebula, it is certain a fun image and I will try a few more like this.
Clearly I need some better planning to get my shots to line up in the corners! Also the stars are a bit blue, and the highlights of the nebula have gone a bit white. Need to maybe try a different combination method for the Ha and OIII and creation of green.
