IC1848

Object name: IC1848
Object type: Bright Nebula
Apparent RA: Apparent Dec:
Constellation: Cassiopeia

Still acting like a child in a sweet shop with the new filter. A second outing with the 6nm Astrodon Ha filter. Moved down a bit to IC1848, and found an interesting part. 2x2 binning again.

Tonight I was using a new adapter I'd made to hold the coma corrector + filter + camera nice and square and with the MPCC the correct distance from the camera.

Some of the flexure issues observed with an inferior adapter have gone and the system was happy with 10mins exposures.

However, 6 exposures discarded because of dew - must wire up the secondary dew heater, and problems with jumps in the DEC guiding. Must look at that.

On a brighter note, the guidescope dew heater worked very well.

I guess I need to move on to unbinned next...

Image centre roughly RA 2h 57' DEC 60deg 41'

Captured in ArtemisCapture, calibrated in ImagetoolsCa, DDP in maxim, thuggery in photoshop.

This image was autoguided using my 400mm focal length refractor and my black and white SC1 webcam.
