Making Money online with surveys and banner sites... not

Lets look at a couple of other money making schemes that get thrown in our faces from time to time. For example, Paid Surveys. Ho Ho Ho. Companies want to know our opinions on products and services, and find out our needs. They will therefore pay you for completing a survey. This survey might take 5 to 30 minutes for you to fill in, and might earn you between $1 and $20 for doing it.

The main drawback with paid survey work is that it is mind witheringly dull. I suspect this is a money making scheme for stupid people! Most poeple of average intelligence would turn insane after spending a day filling in these electronic forms. Of course, you have to fill in quite a few for it to look attractive, but you are at the whim of the survey companies - they choose when to send you a survey, and you can only fill it in if you exist in the correct demogrpahic group. There is no point lying about your demographic group - because these companies are very good at cross checking their results. If you are a single divorced mother with forty seven children of varying ages, several extremely old gradparents and you spend all your time watching television, buying handbags and browsing health food products in the supermarket, AND you are in the bottom 1% of the mental activitiy bracket, then maybe paid surveys are for you. Most of us would get more intellectual stimulus from flipping burgers.

An old favourite of the "Make Money Fast" Ebooks was the banner site. Essentially you create a website with little or no content, and then cover it in affiliate adverts. All you have to do then is drive traffic to it. Which is, of course, impossible. So it doesn't work. Some of the things you got told to do in the ebook consisted of sending out thousands of spam emails telling people to visit your website covered in banner adverts. Try this and two things will happen. All your affilate companies will kick you out of their schemes, and your ISP will close your account for sending spam. Notice the lack of "bank large cheque" instruction in that.

Like all money making schemes on the internet, these two (banner sites and paid surveys) are founded on a bit of truth. Both have plenty of people making money using these methods. The amounts range from "a bit" to "lots". However, as a prospective money making scheme for relative newcommers, they are not the golden goose that they appear to be.
